I ve employed a certain Doctor to be waiting at the 3rd checkpoint on Wasdale. From the distance it will appear as though he is holding a giant fan with which to cool you. As you approach, you will realise it is a giant stick with which to beat you.....all approved by your gran.....there are time outs you know...get a move on!

    Question Re: Wasdale

Speaking of time-outs, does anybody know what they are for the Wasdale race, or where I can find them?

I've looked on Cumberland fell runners' site but I couldn't see them.

    Cheers.

Just a word of advice on time outs at Wasdale...

Don't go too mad over the first half of the race in the fear of not making the cut-offs.

Last year was my first time at Wasdale - I ran/walked with Jackie Lee up Seatallan, beating the Gable cut off by nearly an hour, then 'ran' the remainder of the race in a state of near exhaustion finishing an hour behind the aforementioned Ms Lee.

The cut offs aren't as severe as they might appear - treat them with respect but don't let them panic you into going off too quick.

I know one or two people who don't go mad at the start but can easily make the cut offs I'll be keeping a eye on them

Just hope they haven't been training like mad since the Duddon!

    Re: Wasdale

    Hi,

My name's theNoor and I'd like feeding and watering whilst on the Wasdale.

    That is all.

Thank you for your time and sorry to bother you.

(Which reminds me, when I was little we had a batty next door neighbour. She was absolutely cuckoo. She once knocked on the door and said, "I've just called to say sorry to bother you." She didn't want or need anything. I was only about 7 but even I realised if she hadn't knocked in the first place she wouldn't have had to apologise.... Stark, bonking crazy I tell you, she was.)
Why walk when you can run.

Apparently its the 30th of June,so I have already been timed out!

Having done Arrochar today and had a chat with Dave Ward at the finish, I got enthused to do Wasdale - can someone confirm that entries closed today? - seems a bit early, given that there is a British the day before, so I can't imagine there will be a huge field.

Ho hum - keeping up my record of not reading things properly - missed the checkpoint between Vane and Ime today and had to descend around 500ft to get it.
