    Inspiration for all ?

Serpentine Runner Alex Vero has set himself the ambitious target of finishing inside 2 hrs 15 mins in the 2008 London Marathon (and being in the first three UK men). He has made good progress so far, seeing his half marathon time drop by 20 minutes in the past year, to just over 1 hr 15 mins in February 2007. However, he has suffered some setbacks along the way, including the Reading Half, where he finished just inside 1 hour 22 mins.

There's been a fair bit of coverage of this on www.letsrun.com

Not too sure what to make of it. His target is to run for GB at the Beijing Olympics. As one of his intermediate targets he wanted to get 2-36 for the Paris Marathon in April. He ran 3-10. To knock off 1 hour in 12 months is a big ask. Too be honest he's just trying to fund a project to make a film about it.

Cant see him getting the time, but am happy to be proven wrong.

Just read his website and he seems to have realised that he wil not make 2.15 at all and will most probably struggle to get anywhere under 2.30.

    Surely this is a joke/scam/windup?
As a 75min half marathoner he's half decent, credit where due. To then get that down to around 70mins would be a remarkable achievement but still nowhere near where he needs to be.
If it was possible to get to Beijing from where hes at now then I'd do it myself and i'm already faster than he is.
If he's really set on being at Beijing he'd better start saving up for a ticket.
