There were two of those in the local show in Wakefield Park on Friday evening, but, they were 'Harlequinned'
I'll presume that they were 'home-painted' as I know VW produced multi-coloured (ie' Fruit') Polos, but doubt that 924s were factory painted like that??

Now then Thackers....are you old enough to remember Captain Hurricane and his RAGIN' FURIES????? Well I hope so, coz I is brewing up into one RIGHT NOW!!!
That, you rice chompin', yellow skinned, slit-eyed demon (no offence Gambatte!) IS A 944! AND an S2 at that! Very much chalk to the 924 cheese!
Grrrr, humph, growl, mutter. Harlequin my ar$e!
(Never seen a harlequin Porsche of any variety but I guess a bargain bin 924 might JUST be subject to such desecration)

I recognise a 911 in all its seemingly unlimted guises, as a faster Beetle, but the 924/944 does confuse me a bit (didn't the 924 have a derivation of a VW van engine?)
I know the 928, as it was a front engined V8

Yes, folks like to poke fun at mark 1 924 having a block shared with an Audi van.....just as the original 356 shared a block with a humble beetle.
the 944 was a very different animal. The engine was half of the 928 v8 engine and in s2 guise had 16 valves, 3 litres and technology derived from the TAG Porsche mclaren f1 engine. It was the largest capacity 4 cylinder engine in production at the time and good for 210 bhp, deliberately just less than the 230 bhp 911.
Now, they can be picked up for very little compared to a contemporary 911 but make great track day cars with near 50/50 weight distribution which gives very usable handling. I recently ragged mine around Spa....epic!!

A '34 Ford that was at the same show in Thornes Park as the 2 Porches, he kept firing it up - on just headers! - no silencers
Woderful sound
