At the risk of being told to go out and recce all the possibilities and work it out for yourself. I was wondering if there is a generally accepted best route up to Arthur's Pike from Pooley Bridge?

Thinking of the JNC, from Arthur's Pike to Thornthwaite Beacon seems straightforward - any suggestions for the best way of dealing with Threshthwaite Mouth?
Or having descended to it stay on the right (north side) and look for a series of small trods and tiny cairns that lead up out of the mouth on grassy ridges then go left to cross the wall and rejoin YTD's route. This is the Ian Hodgson MR descent route which I think is easier and quicker.
Thanks chaps - will explore on Google Earth and on the ground.
Recce'd the first leg of this during the week - was a gorgeous clear day - took me 3.36 with some time spent looking at the views and the map - but not much. I am in the 15 hour schedule age bracket, thank God, because to do the whole lot in 12 hours would be extremely tough. I can understand why people wait until they are 55 before having a crack at it!
