    Thankyou Ian

You can tell me off, for being facetious, if we bump into each other over the 3 days (that said, you'll be way in front of me... as usual)

Well I won't say I enjoyed it a lot, as I suffered going up High Bank Lane to the junction with Spicer House Lane.
Mindst you, it was a cracking view over, when I lifted my head enough to look over.

I did enjoy the farmtrack down towards (the back of) Scout Dyke Reservoir though (from end of Folly Lane?)

I know my time will probably place me in the last 1/3rd of the results, but what the heck!

I was surprised to see someone from work there!, as one of the 'Denby Dale Travellers' members is one of our Senior Pharmacists, she made her presence known to me before the start

Coming back up 'High Bank' wasn't much fun either, even though I did think I'd gain a couple of places, but I didn't

    Roll on tomorrow afternoon.................

..... however, the (personal) question is; Do I try for an 'entry on the line' at Eccup in the morning, before heading down to The Strines' in the afternoon??

    Andy;
SWMBO liked your 'Mountain Rescue Ale', sorry I can't vouch for its quality, as I'm tee-total

Thanks Richard, Yes a tough race and far too hot for me today had a good first half but the heat on the track did for me and i had to hang on for the last mile to get 27.36.

Tha bar went down well sellin all 15 cases of rescue Ale and 3 cases of Becks...

Respect to the 2 Dark peakers who Cycled to the start, had beer a beer, then raced before returning to the beer tent..

I still can't work out where the 800ft of climbing is? 3-400 at a push?

Think I'll run to the start tomorrow as it's only a mile away, But this definitely has a good 800ft. bring it on...

Yes, I'll agree it seemed very (almost uncomfortably) warm at points.
My ankles/knees were sore this morning after the descent of Ingbirchworth Lane (past 'Crystal Palace' pub)

See you this afternoon, probably after you've finished well in front of me!

Any ideas on the numbers/results/times yet?

Thanks ian and thanks for the tip about the finish. It blasted off at an unreal pace and there was no way after peak forest this morning i was going that fast. The climb soon came and the race calmed down after the river. Had a lovely battle with i think mike edger, hope thats spelt correct.
I held back on the descent which allowed me to have the sprint up past the tree and fire engine. Well organised mr plummer. Must make the pennine jersey on show more in these parts more often. Proper dark peak country.
    Nice little show as well.
Whats the trig point called that we touched.

    Re: 'Three in Three'

Thought todays race was tougher than what I remember of last year, unless it was the head-wind (in places) that threw me
Once more though, it was a good race, with a flier of a start, descending down to the river*
The climb was as steep as I remembered it, with a great view over to the showground as we entered open ground

Seeing the 'Trig-Point' was a turning point (quite literally) as you knew that 90% of the uphill was over & done with

Rather embarrassingly I did take a tumble, heading back through the Gorse, where the earth was very crumbly & broke away under your feet

For one moment, I thought I was going to go head-first in the bog, as I must've caught the only root in it

Still, I was very pleased as (I think) only one other runner passing me from part-way up the climb, and all the way to the finish.

A good race, & I hope to be there in 2012, but returning with an 'Away-Team'

*But which equated a heck of a drag back up to the finish

Thanks Andy, they make interesting reading, I placed better than I thought, but didn't think there were so many 'on the line' at Thurlstone

There appears to be some names missing in the 'circa 35:00-36:00' mark, as a few runners misplaced the finish, & veered off to the right before it (I know one of them was our Pharmacist, Anne Fonseca - 'Denby Dale Travellers')
