Thread: Great Lakeland 3Day 2012

I couldn't get hold of the heavy duty one, so got the 109l medium duty one instead. If it keep everything dry, it'll do for me. I hope that's ok with the RO, the website suggests that it has to be a standard dry bag but surely this difference won;t be material.

Am off now until the event, so about to go shopping for stuff :-)

Lunchtime shopping, Compeed, tape & lardy cake, it must be a mountain marathon weekend! Down jacket & spare waterproof in dry bag, the next question is 1 or 4 season sleeping bag?

I'm in and looking forward to it despite the potentially wet weather. I've been faffing around with packing most evenings this week but will obviously have to finish it tonight. I'll no doubt be left with the feeling that I've got the wrong ratio of food to clothes or the wrong shoes so will be happier once it is too late to repack.

Latest forecast is cold bright and sunny all weekend
Possible rain on Monday, but a hot shower and warm bed to look forward to.

I love mountain marathon shopping. When the organic veg and fruit get forgotten and I buy the highest calorie most grimly flavoured dehydrated food possible and vast amounts of food in bar form....

Take both sleeping bags and have a 5+ season bag by combining them both. Seriosly though if you don't have to carry it 4season everytime. Why risk sleeping cold when you don't have to?

I'd better make room for my warmer bag then. I suppose room could be made for a hot water bottle as a belt and braces approach.

I'd go for a small generator (Shane won't mind carrying it) and then you could put in an electric blanket ... but don't use a hot water bottle as well, that could potentially be a shocking experience!

Have fun at GL3Day everyone, I may catch up with some old friends and familiar faces on Monday.

A third of the overnight bag should be food they reckon - by the time I've put all the mandatory kit in it's already 3/4 full!
