    I'd also imagine that Big Oil played its part in discouraging any real alternatives to liquid hydrocarbon sources of energy. I also recall that 20 years ago we could buy our domestic heating oil for 14p a litre!

    Their Thorium reactor should go live this autumn. I really hope this goes well. Should release us from the severe restrictions facing old school reactors.

    Ha! So it has!! Inscrutable Chinese at it again.
    Try this. Its an 18 minute lecture. The first 10 minutes goes over the history of nuclear power and its issues. The last 8 minutes gives a current overview of where we are and where we are going with Thorium MSR's. So you could skip the first bit, but it gives great context.
