    50 Mile Opportunity.

Hi everyone i have the opportunity to run 50 mile trail race with about 3000 ft climb and not far off descent either. The thing is the race is dated March 4th and at the moment i am just tootling along you know 4 mile here and 10k there and 7 mile here. The longer race i have planned is not until 2013 so i have not got going with that and wont until next year. I have never trained for this distance do i have enough time ?. If not do you know how i might be able to push it hard and get near the target. Does anyone know any good plans to follow ?. It's a chance and half to do this race so i really want to do it. Any advice appreciated.
They called me mad and i called them mad and damn them they outvoted me !!!.

You've over 7 months before the event, you've plenty of time. Are you wanting to do the 50 miles in a set time or just to complete? The body will cope with an awful lot it's the head that usually gives up first. If you are simply wanting to complete then this is more than feasible - being under trained just means it will take longer and you will ache a hell of a lot more!! You've lots of time to up the distance though to be more than ready
    Good luck.

I want to complete but there is a cut off of 12 hours which ideally would be nice to come under.

Round Rotherham in mid-October. 50 miles and 2500ft. You won't be able to run it all but it's open to walkers too. It will give you a good idea of what to expect in March rather than going into it totally experience free.

I'm doing this in November (the 40 miler). So this should be a good target for you to aim for & give you a good indication of where you are. Slooooow & steady.
