Now got a date penciled in as 17th a Saturday
Would have been keen, but is that the Three Shires weekend? If so, I won't be available.
Looks a cracking route!
Hi Andy, me and Rach did this back in Feb in dreadful conditions and always said we'd like another go at it on a better day. Shame we're both doing the High Peak 40 on the 17th. You'll enjoy it though, it's a fantastic route. Don't forget to register your attempt through the Gofar website when you've done. Chris
Am on for This Saturday route looks pretty straight forward, anyone get any tips for the last bit from Pen-y-Ghent
I'm guessing you follow the Pennine Way off of Pen y Ghent, straight over the top of Fountains Fell, up to Malham Tarn and then over towards the bit marked 'Malham Lings' on the map - here you follow the PW down a narrowing track that eventually turns sharp right and carries on sharp to the left - you though head right at this point (away from Malham Cove)and cross the very next stile on the left, up through the field, across the lane and follow the path onwards (signposted Langcliffe I think). You then take the next path on your left heading up towards Kirkby Fell and, at the top (big gate to your left) you head right towards Stockdale. Rye Loaf Hill is the boob shaped hill on your left and although you can go through a couple of gates to get up there you may end up taking a line and crossing a couple of walls. From Rye Loaf to Warrendale Knotts doesn't have a direct path that I know so I guess you drop down into the Stockdale valley before picking up the track to Attermire Scar - Warrendale Knotts are the clump of hillocks with a trig on top (plainly visible with clear skies) just beyond that. Good luck
