I have posted a map in a previous Grisedale thread - do a search and you should come across it. Super race, jam butties in village hall after too!

Jamie, Is Grisedale as tough as Sedbergh?
Are you doing it/staying on the Sat night for a few pints?

    Re: grisedale horseshoe

No Grisedale is easier but not much easier, it is a lot rockier.

I reckon time wise about 20minutes shorter. Still a hell of a lot of climb mind you. With a real kick in the arse at the end.

Try to find the short scree run off St Sunday Crag, I used it last year on race day, but have never found it since. Perhaps the organisor put it there specially.

My legs are killing me today, Im going easy now till Grisedale. Not even thinking about another long run.

Anyone following this route off St Sunday Crag will die as it goes over a very big cliff!

You have to go right down to the col at either NY373139 or NY375141 to get safely down into the valley.

    No Map, No Compass

Do you mean my scree run route as previous post, or do you mean the route on Ady's map.

    Cheers

    Re: grisedale horseshoe

It is Ady's map which is wrong, it shows a straight line from the top of St Sundays to somewhere on the valley side and this goes over the cliffs. The two grid refs I have given are safe points to drop into the valley beyond the cliffs (though there are cliffs between these two points!).

The scree run is a good line if you can find it and it is beyond the cliffs and not on Ady's map. It is easy to find if you know where to look!

Yeah, I spent ages looking for it whilst out walking.

I used it in last years race, but that was all a blur. Is it a long scree run or pretty short lived. I dont seem to remember being delivered safely to the valley floor by it.

It's pretty short - 100m or so - and very narrow. Once you get to the bottom of it its steep slippy grass all the way to the plantation. Best to take a sledge with you or some grass skis. No idea what the best line is - the straightest I should think.
