In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

This is on again tomorrow evening.
A massive 393 entries 56 of which are M60!
Visibility good except in Hill Fog
Only 307 of the 393 pre entries made it to the start line year, but still a new record I believe. A decent field at the sharp end and it was a frantic start for the lap of the playing fields to avoid the bottleneck between the pavilion and the shipping container prior to the steep climb up the road and into the woods.
Once out of the woods it was lovely and sunny with a nice cool breeze for the rest of the race. The winner was Gregg Hopkinson of Matlock AC in 42.03. The first lady home was Abbie Pearse of Steel City Striders, 23rd overall, in 46.50.
I got around in 49.12, 45th overall and 1st M60. I was really pleased with the result as I was over 3 minutes quicker than last year and in almost identical conditions. I didn’t really enjoy the race though but the £10 Barrel Inn voucher might ease my pain!
I’m on the start list for tomorrow’s Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race, which is one of my favourites, but not sure if I’ll make it yet as I’ve pulled something in my back lifting one of the dogs out of the car!
