Thread: Barrel Inn Fell Race Eyam

Re: Barrel Inn Fell Race Eyam

A lap of the cricket field, then up a thigh burning winding rocky track for half a mile up to the plateau that Barrel Pub / Gliding Club are on. If you dont know the area you can actually see 5 counties from the Barrel where there is usually a watering (& beering!) station. Then its a mix of track and green fields and a short road section before a fantastic decent through some woods to what you think is the finish, but beware a short sharp climb just before the end. Its a beauty - 2nd Fell Race I ever did and persuaded me that the sport was for me after all. Well worth the trip - its quite similar to Cracken Edge, another of my faves.

Well, for those of you that weren't there, (and maybe some of you that were), heres how it went from inside my head.

Cracking race, thanks to the organisers and the marshals.
No thanks to Garmin because my 305 crashed 5 mins into the run and I have no geeky stats to look at.

Nice write-up Tim. I'm going to have to run faster so I can feature in them again!

I don't know for sure who Darth is, but if it's Andrew then he pulled up with his hamstring at the far end of the course. He was going well up to then.

Guilty your honour - which rules out Longstone and probably The Exterminator which really p***** me off. Hopefully I may be able to shuffle round the Buttermere Triathlon in 2 weeks cos being a Yorkshireman I'd hate to waste the £38 entry fee. Really regretting doing that Triathlon at Matlock on Bank Holiday Monday now. I think it was bending down to pick up a toddler who fell over in front of me that triggerred it.

Pretty fast this one - I thought the leading 2 may have been a couple of minutes ahead of me, but they must have pushed on a lot from Sir William Hill - 5 min deficit!
Enjoyed it, perfect racing conditions and glad the rain held off!
