It's all excellent running country, especially north of the village up on to the open access land:

A good one from Malham is NW up Pikedaw Hill, round the west and north of the Grizedales and into Malham Lings, this is the old river bed where the water flowed over the top of the cove. From the top of the cove, go east into the bottom of Goredale Scar and climb up the waterfall. From the top find your way back to Malham.

I run there all the time. Brotherton Lads route is a good one - I tend to run it in reverse though, or even as an add on to my run out from Settle (bottom half of Settle Loop to Pikedaw Hill, down a fabulous descent to Malham, along the river past Janets Foss, up Goredale, back along the ridge, drop down and along to the top of the cove, top half of Settle Loop back to Settle). You can also easily extend Brotherton's run by starting at the bridge at Hanlith or even go the whole hog and have a crack at the 23 and a bit Malhamdale Meander route from the same place - see http://www.malhamdale.com/meander.htm
Its also really easy to extend runs around the back of Malham Tarn once your at the top of Goredale Scar if you want to - just look at the paths shown on the OS map
Agree, ran the Meander last year. Very nice run.
