    Re: Hamstring problems

Problem is a small tear in one of the hamstring muscles. Caused by poor flexibility in the hip / lower back.
Will do 2/3 short easy runs before it is reviewed next Friday, plus a fair bit of stretching and 2/3 swims. I don't expect to be racing now until August, and am somewhat frustrated.
Nevertheless, it provides opportunities to spend time doing things I normally don't find time to do...

Good news NotIntaFells, all the best with that

Might want to get down the gym and bust out some squats to build up those hamstrings..

Had another week of building up the training. Will continue doing the same for now... still it is a struggle when carrying a few pounds and getting lots of general leg stiffness after all runs!

Love the logo NotintaFells. Tough on the hamstring. I have a lot of tightness in the hams and lower back, the trouble is that I hate stretching. damm

    Re: Hamstring problems

I have suffered with a tight hamstrings for arounn 6 months now. Stretching and physio has helped and is ongoing.

My main worry is that I feel I have a lump/knotted muscle in one leg and it does not seem to be shifting . The physio does not seem to notice it but I can definitely tell.

    Any thoughts or suggestions please

    'neural' hamstring problem

After about 12 frustrating months of trying to sort out a hamstring problem and not getting anywhere I have found a physio who believes it to be neural (arising from the sciaitic nerve) rather than muscular. It is confusing as the symptoms do mimick the soreness and stiffness associated with normal hamstring injuries. I can run Ok for about an hour but after that it gets progressively more difficult.

Is there anyone out there who has experience of this sort of problem? What was the treatment and how long did it take to resolve?

Thanks for any comments and guidance.
