    Bill Smith

It is with great sadness that I learnt of Bill's death. He met his end on the Bowland hills some time ago but I only found out about it today from his sister. I will post updates here. He was a good man, great writer and a good friend. May he rest in peace.

Sad news - he leaves a great legacy, though.

    Re: Bill Smith

    Very sad news indeed.

I exchanged a few words with Bill last at the end of Fred's Run when he was one of the assembled and happy throng seeing "Fred" home from Portinscale to Keswick.

I was lucky enough to have regular if infrequent correspondence with Bill. He was indeed a gent of the old school.

He will be sadly missed by many.

That is very sad news. At many fell races I would bump into him on top of a hill somewhere He always had words of encouragement for everyone. It won't be the same without his smiling face around the races
