    Recommend me some Longs

Ron Hill Tracksters served me well for many years (as they were just about the only things available), and more recently I've been using Salomon lycra running tights. But with the impedning OMM coming up in Scotland, when no doubt the weather will be much colder, I can't help thinking that lycra tights will be a bit lightweight in terms of warmth and wind resistance.

Can anyone recommend any decent, warm Longs. Thinking I might go for some Rab Powerstretch tights which I've seen in my local Cotswold, or hs anyone got any experience of the Montane Mountain Fury?

Any suggestions to make my decision even harder will be much appreciated.

Rather than "longs" have you considered 3/4's ( just below the knee ), often termed "capris". I've been wearing Nike Dry Fit ( around £26 from PB ) for the past 4 or 5 winters on all the Bowland Bat Runs, regardless of the weather. Superb, not having wet/muddy material clinging/flapping around your calfs. When the Dry Fits do get wet, they dry very quickly once the rain stops ( or you pick yourself out of the puddle/bog/river). I do own a pair of Calange Powerstretch tights but conditions need to be really (mega) sub zero or I find myself in meltdown.

Aldi have got running gear this week and I've a couple of pairs of their "longs" that are warmer than thin lycra leggings.

Montane mountain fury's are pretty much just the same as salomon lycra leggings. I've got both, thought the montanes would be warmer. Nope. Not on my legs.
