Is this worth a trip down Wheeze?

Well, if you want to escape Christmas shopping, most definately!!! It's actually pretty tough. The run up the fields to the fell side is fiendishly hard work. I'ts runnable but very sapping. So when the serious climbing starts, your legs are pretty shot. Think the last field before the stile on Blorenge. The first true climb is short but testing again because its just runnable. The first descent is a real ankle biter. Tussocky at the top turning into partly turf covered rocks that are slippy and slidy at any time of year. The last ascent is brutally steep...a bit like death gully on Moel Fammau but steeper and exposed. Then the final descent from the summit starts too steep to run...either slippy grass or slick heather...a bit like the last descent on Mynydd Troed. Then the return through the fields will be balls-out fast.

The Skirrd Inn race HQ is the oldest pub in Wales. So whats not to like???

    I could do with some marshals for this, for . . . . well, you know . . . .

pointing you in the right direction, getting in the way, slamming gates into you groin, laughing at your misfortune, mending any broken bits (competitors), herding sheep across the descent path, being warm when you're not, shouting abuse, saying meaninglessly "not far" when you desperately ask how far it is to the finish, . . . etc

Seriously, if you, your partner, mum dad or great aunty, or dog, aren't running . . . .I could do with a body or two to marshal/assist but ideally would like to know before the day. PM me.

The Skirrid Inn is haunted big style. Checkout their website.

I think your major hurdle will be the date. I'm really not sure I can get a day pass on that particular day...just too close to Chrissie!

    Anyone doing this at all?

    Sounds like a cracking race?

There Will Be Mud!!! Any more of this wet stuff and Wales will dissolve! I plan to be there. Not sure whether to bring studs or flippers.

Unfortunately I will not be there. I was planning on being there after being given a pass by Mrs SL but the car requires the attention of the garage.

Sounds like it will be a right good run - a new race with plenty of mud - just what the doctor ordered !

I hope everyone has a good race.

Look forward to it then. Sounds like a cruel little loop but also imagine its a right blast (well coming down anyway) :-) See you there!
