Shoes for a dollar?

Adidas / Reebok are planning on launching a pair of shoes in India that will cost one dollar. One pair of Reeboks or a hundred pairs of Inov-8's?

great because it provides jobs and wealth and encourages activity (in an already active culture)

why can't we have shoes for a dollar? oh, because we are already a wealthy nation with an established retail environment and yet the shoes will still be put together by pretty much the same bleeding fingers.

And of course, with market segmentation, the Bollywood gliteratti / elite will always prefer the cache of Inov-8, in clawing their ascent to and descent from stardom...
