They had many fell running related hits...
Can't Stand Losing You (because I can't read a map)
So Lonely (at the back of the field)
Don't Stand So Close To Me (wearing that smelly Helly top)
Invisible Sun (thanks to all that clag)
Every Breath You Take (gets you up that hill)
Walking In Your Footsteps (as you know the fastest line)
Voices Inside My Head (tell me to fill in that entry form)
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic (about Helene Diamantides?)
Peter Schmeichel.
As a keeper it was his attitude to fitness and long distance running that inspired me to get fitter. I'd always ran but was determined to be the fittest member of any team I play in, his view was there was no reason why the keeper shouldn't be as fit as anyone else. It was a reason why Ferguson and Bosnich never got on.
I fancied a go at Triathlon as it looked like fun and considered myself reasonably fit at the time after years of martial arts. I quickly found that despite being fit for one sport dosn't mean you are going to find something else easy. I found running hard and just plodded on until joining a Tri club last november where I started to get some direction in my training. It was then I was introduced to fell running proper and started to read a bit into running. I had no heroes that got me into running, but now I look up at everyone who finishes in front of me thinking "one day I want to be as good as/better than them"
Not a runner, but Benny Rothman.
