    Cinco or cast iron?

    Christmas tree stand.

I've never owned one and as my family have always had plastic trees, I've no idea what works best.

The Cinco stands look ugly but probably are kindest to the carpet? The cast iron ones look lovely but do they wreck the floor? What to do?

I've got one of those, not sure what type you would call it but it workf nicely. As it happens, it's going spare if you can get it from Sheffield - going for a plastic tree as a real one seems to be a bit of a liability with a very active toddler in the house!

Have you considered the 'plastic bucket from off the back yard, stuffed full of big pebbles pinched from the river' option. I hear it'll be the tree stand to be seen with in all the smartest sitting rooms in Lower Wharfedale come Christmas time :closed:

Going spare? Consider it no longer spare if I could collect it on my way up on the 15th? Willing to give you fair payment of course

I've met blokes like you before

Bucket and pebbles (swiped from a beach) was almost impossible; no, it was impossible, to get the tree straight and not wobbly. Recipe for divorce!
The bucket and sand (also swiped from a beach) - tree fell over several times and refused to stand up! Also recipe for divorce!!!

Now then, about that nice purpose made elegant stand!!!
