    Calder V Round 2012 onwards

CALDER VALLEY ROUND - 16 miles and 4000'

This is a training run cum challenge equivalent to a Category AL fell race. It starts from Mytholmroyd - full details are on its own web page here:

    http://www.gofar.org.uk/caldervalley...challenge.html
it is recommended you use the route sheet as well as the pdf map

To add a bit of interest there are a range of Target Times for 2012 :

    Elite - sub 2-45, A class - sub 3-15, Standard - over 3-15

It's all on the web page but it's all dead simple:

•Download the route sheet/map from the web page.
•Run round the route at any time to suit yourself.
•Register your time and club on this thread.
•Personal registrations only please - do not register other runners times.
•Like most worthwhile things in life this all depends on honesty so please stick strictly to the route described.
•A results summary will be published in July then at the year end.

Good Running and Good Luck in 2012 and ever after!!!

I'm crocked at the moment so had a leisurely stroll round this with a mate who is a walker. Stopped off at new cricket club cafe at Old Town for morning coffee. Clocked up 6-15 which must be a record........ for the slowest time

At the pace we were going no problem at all!! They were not as greasy as I thought they might be so should be Ok for running down if your shoes have reasonable grip. The path across Erringdon moor is very obvious now and the path through the nature reserve was quite churned up - probably from The Hebden traffic!

Might have to have a bash at this soon - not knowing the area particularly well I'll probably have a slow route-finding trot round, then a full tilt at it when more confident with it all. Looks like a good route though.

Keep wanting to have a drive over, & have a go at the 'CVR' with a couple of club-mates, but not managed to arrange it all yet
Generally to be found plodding along with 'www.ackworthroadrunnersandac.co.uk'

Did this today with Ged. Slightly(!) slower than his best time, about 3.23, but for my first off-road run I was really pleased. What a fabulous route and a great morning for it (arrived home as the hail started). Was a great help having Ged to guide and generally keep me going, really enjoyed it :-D

Evening all, first post, so be kind . I'm looking at having my first trot around this route through the day on either Tues 9th Sept or Fri 12th Sept. I'm not familiar with the area so expect it to take 3hrs plus (depending on how well I can navigate the course!). I've got the map and route from the go far website. Any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers Dave

    Hi 3755

Not sure there's many pointers to give which probably explains the lack of replies!. The route directions/map are so good that it's pretty hard to go the wrong way! The only things I can think off are to take it easy on the first climb straight off the canal (it's a tough one) and watch out going down Dick's Lane cos it's pretty trippy (I've fallen over down there each of the 3 times I've done the route).

Hope you get a good day for it, it's a great route!
