My son, aged 8 has just started accompanying me on short fell runs, he has been struggling with his road shoes. Does anyone have a used pair of size two or threes that would see him through the winter. Happy to purchase .......

RS, You're in luck. My daughter has just outgrown her size 3 Walshes (very good condition). No charge.

Oh I'm glad I stumbled across this, as I havent seen anyone run with a child so young out here. One of my daughters want to run with me but am struggling to find some trainers, as she's only 8 & a size 13. Might try some size 1 walshes (off another thread)
Youngsters used to run in football boots on the Bofra circuit. If its wet then they are much better than trainers.
I have picked up some kids mizuno wildwood shoes for about £20 off amazon recently.

Not quite fell shoes but good grip and should do fine. Cheaper than buying new Walshes.
Jake manages in walsh trainers started off in 1 which are small ,
Jake started when he was 7 on a regular basis on Winter Hill in all weathers day or night time,
