Been putting some thought into this....
The key is to ID the epi-centre of all these races (or any other cluster)
The idea is to ID the degree of race "concentration"
.....so imagine concentric rings (like the B&Q delivery charge map) around any given town in the UK; 4 rings; 6 miles, 10 miles, 15 miles, and 20 miles.
So races within 6 miles get 10 points; 10 miles = 7 points; 15 miles = 5 points; 20= 3 points; over 20 miles = 0 points.
The place with the highest points total is the UKs official fell running mecca.
Unfortunately quality of race is not included (or lakes would win) - this is about quantity
Now there's a challenge for a cancelled PBWR team to get stuck into.
Once the place, together with all its associated races has been identified, and formally recognised, there is bound to be some nutter who runs the whole lot in one year. (I'm already looking at my diary)
