Thanks for the offer, I got some massage and laid off for about 3 weeks, have ran on it now for about
another 3 until yesterday when I got a dull ache in my right calf which has stayed, it is not causing me problems with walking but I am wary to run on it. I have done the majority of my recent running on grass in flyrocs with no problem up to now?

    Calf tear

Started 4 weeks ago uping my cycling, 30, 50, 70 then 90 mile per week.
Last rode Sunday no problem then did a core session on Tuesday with a 2k row. No problem.
Started jogging on the treadmill yesterday only at 10k/hr and 3degree incline and after 2k felt a pain the center of the right calf. Stopped and went on the rower for some intervals pain continues.
    Arrrrrrrrh
Went to the physio this evening to be told possible small tear due to overuse and lack of warm up and stretching.

    Oh dear

I tore my left calf last year after PPP. Some good advice on above thread. I rested completely for two weeks, then had a further two weeks of walking and gentle cycling only. Good luck Trev!

    Re: Calf tear

Cheers DT. Read the thread and it all sounds positive providing I give it adequate rest.
Back with physio in a week so hopefully news will be positive.

Main thing is not to rush back and re-tear it

I know how you feel Stagger.

Not for the first time I've picked up another (hopefully minor) calf strain/pull (fartlek session on road on Wednesday night did it for me!) so am planning at least a week off before even considering running again - experience tells me it may be a bit longer than a week though!

    Re: Calf tear

I'm applying for membership of the torn calf club. Intervals on the canal on Saturday afternoon and it went. Managed to hobble home in not too much pain, but really struggled to walk on it yesterday. Resting it today with ibuprofen and ice, then hoping to see a physio later this week. I really don't need a 4 week lay-off right now.

    Re: Calf tear

My calf (low down near the achillies) seemed to go this morning - walking down the bl**dy stairs at home. Got to the third stair from the bottom and OWWWW!!

It was sore pressing the clutch in the car and walking round the office. Not happy. I was going to do a longish run at the weekend but will have to see how it feels.
