    Club Transfers

    Dear all,

Apparently FRA Rule 9(a) on club transfers states: "UKA Rules regarding club membership and first claim status apply to all athletes. A six months’ waiting period is required between ceasing membership of a club and competing as a team member of another club."

I think this is now out of date. Pre-2010 UKA rules were 6 months, then in 2010 it went down to 4 and now its 'minimal' with 1 month being the recommended maximum for the first change in any year.

How do we get the FRA rules updates to reflect UKA rules?

    John.

    RULES REVISION GROUP PROPOSALS
    2012-2014 UKA RULE BOOK

Eligibility-Club Transfers: An athlete should be allowed to change his First claim club once every year with only a minimal
administrative period between with no further penalty (currently four months) since so few Eligibility committees are giving
anything more than one month at the present time. Athletes changing more than once a year will be subject to the current rule
    of four months.

New UK Athletics Team Eligibility Rules as of 1 April 2012

The FRA committee has been informed by UK Athletics that as of 1 April 2012 the Team Eligibility Rules will change to:-

An athlete can resign from his present club and run as a team counter for his new club one month from the date of his resignation. If the athlete resigns again within a 12 month period and does a second move then the 4 month team ban will apply unless they apply for relaxation. The 12 month period is a rolling year and not a fixed calendar year from 1 Jan – 31 Dec.

Anyone changing club should inform England Athletics on the relevant form obtainable from:-
    http://www.englandathletics.org/page...ub+Affiliation

In addition the FRA Membership Administrator, Debbie Thompson [email protected] should be informed so that the membership records are accurate for use by eg Mark Hobson, the FRA Statistician who maintains the Championship tables.
