I hate to complain but I find this site a nightmare to navigate. Searches on races seldom bring up what I want want. If I'm missing something please help me out.

I agree that its not the easiest forum to search on but I have discovered a way to usually find what I'm looking for. I tend to do a search and then click on one of the threads that sounds a bit like what I want and then look at the bottom of the page at 'similar threads' and keep clicking on those and checking more 'similar threads' until I get to where I want to be. If that doesn't work, I've usually distracted myself by something else interesting enough to forget what I was looking for in the first place.

I generally find it works better if you select "Search titles only" in advanced search.

I don't find the search option very effective, like you Donkeyforth it often misses relevant threads

the other annoying thing is that I remain logged in, and hit the "what's new" button when I want to see the latest threads...so the newest are brought to the top. but what also happens is that some threads I haven't yet read disappear off the list of "new"...and if it aint on the screen for me to see I'll forget what I was going to look at

I'm the past I have used is the Google 'advanced search' feature that allows you to search a specific site to get round this problem. From the main Google search page, click Advanced Search (near the bottom on the mobile phone browser I am using whilst writing this). The various search boxes are fairly self-explanatory, and the top one can be used for search terms as per normal. The crucial bit is that, about half way down the page, there is a text box labelled "Site or domain". Put "forum.fellrunner.org.uk" in there. That should restrict your results just to the FRA forum.

NB: you can achieve a similar result from the standard Google search using something like:

site:forum.fellrunner.org.uk fellsman fleet moss

This doesn't strictly adhere to the "site" restriction so will provide other results, too.
