Why dont you race and treat you partner at the same time ??
The Mulgrave 10k is a road/ trail run through the grounds of Mulgrave Castle (Nr Whitby North Yorks).no pbs will be broken but the facilities and the race will be second to none.
You can treat your partner to a 5* experience here http://www.raithwaitehallwhitby.co.uk/ (I have stayed there ,it is fantastic) .Mind you there are loads of B&Bs in Sandsend or Whitby area only jogging distance from the Start of the race.

can't make this,but will probably have a car load from Leeds doing the Blakey Blitz from the pub ( forget the name ) high on the North Yorks Moors. A good tough warm up for the The Three Peaks
