I'll be doing this one. Yes, it's very short and steep. I can't recommend it highly enough.
As the course shows, it's a there and back race, so you can watch Simon Bailey come back past us all. It's also got a river crossing (twice) and a time-honoured traditional finish where all competitors have to touch the wall. The fete is pretty good too - it's been described as how fetes used to be 50 years ago.
I know Grump must think not again asking for details. I'm not really doing that i have seen the map but i find asking people who have done it far better than seeing the map and going ooh it's steep. You get a real feel for the race through peoples' experience. You know sometimes races read very similar but one is way harder than the other for whatever reason. That's why i ask.

Thanks Grump.

I love this race. As others have said, short and sweet.
It has sentimental value to me. It was my second only race three years ago, my late Mother in law was brought up in the area and most of her family are buried in the local church yard. It was one of the last times we were all together as a family before she became too ill to get out. I was gutted recently when told I would be working that day. Lots of pleading and I'm able to run the race again this year. Simon Bailey at full flight is a sight to behold. I can't wait.
See you there I just think the whole day is a good old fashioned family day out my lad(s) will be doing the juniro race and then doing the senior one and kicking my backside at the same time. Great!

It's on my doorstep and a real lung-busting, lactate-fest!
There's stuff for the children at the fete and you'll be back in twenty-odd minutes. Spectators can see you getting a good beasting on the way up and see you for most of the route... good fun.
How the likes of Simon Bailey get up and down in under 16 minutes I really don't know!
I'll probably marshal this year.
Watch out in the bluebell wood on the final descent - or you be on your a**e!
