    Re: Trail Up The Beast

Not me! Not so much lost as confused. I thought it was reasonably well marked in hindsight but was looking at the ground and missed one of the red arrows on the fence. Ran up the track to the left and me and the Bowzer ended up doing the second climb first. It was a nice track so we just carried on! I did the second climb twice like a dunce. It's such great terrain for a race and a lovely little pub. Maybe they'll fix the route next year and I'll get it right! Fun race though. Was amusing seeing people crawling out of the forest from every direction looking for the finish line.

The beast was the winner this time !
Problems start when you set up signs from a walking perspective and not the lunatic descending i was forced to do to keep Steve in check. Coming down the wood and onto the track the only sign you could see whilst hugging the right side of the track was the arrow left which was aimed at runners coming back after the loop. There was another arrow on the fence but once you see one arrow you don't look for another. The arrow aimed at returning runners should never have been in sight for outward runners. A place where a trail passes twice is a good place for a marshall i would say as you can cover 2 parts of the course with one man.

Never mind, the trails themselves were great fun. I'll be back next year.

anyway, so who went the right way??!
not quite, but I don't think I went as far out of my way as some people ........... I like the last down hill bit in the woods, fast even for me

yeah there seemed to be an equal amount finishing from both directions at the end

have to admit that after the first descent I went left too but fortunately was called back by simon from Buckley so managed to hit the first climb on course, thanks Si!
