Thread: Langstrath Fell Race

    Langstrath tomorrow night

Have bagged a couple of days off work and with the weather set to be good I'm fancying a trip out.

Looking at doing Langstrath tomorrow night, camping over and then having a steady trot around Borrowdale on Thursday.

I'm just looking now for the best place to camp and which pub to prop the bar up at tomorrow night.

I've camped at Stonethwaite before so know what that is like.
Anyone think there is a better campsite/pub in that area?

    Cheers.

can't tell you much about camping, although I've been looking into the same thing and as well as stonethwaite there seems to be one round there called ashness farm or summat ...?

can tell you about pubs though

you've got a choice of two: the Scafell or the Langstrath Inn. Scafell is a more straightforward pub popular with walkers, although I actually thought the ale there was not very good when I went last. There was also some bloke in there trying to stare me out at one point.

The Langstrath has really geared itself towards upmarket eating. But there's a small bar area at the front, and they were happy for me to go in and just drink beer a few months back, and they served a good pint. Food is very good but gastropub / restaurant prices.

Scafell's more your basic pub grub.

In view of his advancing years it was probably one of his trips for a pee during the night!
