    shin splints? ignore?

Hi. I think I might have very mild shin splints or the start of them. A dull ache down the outside of my shin from my knee. Not painful. I have recently changed shoes, increased mileage and been lugging a baby in a back carrier. So diff to eliminate cause.
I was planning on doing a 6 mile race tomorrow night, which would be at my upper limit. I presume I shouldnt be doing this?
Or am I being a wuss and should accept Im sore coz Im running a fair bit.
Bit worried about shin splint horror stories..

Have a read of this http://globaltherapies.wordpress.com.../shin-splints/
Missing one race isn't the end of the world. Sounds like a combination of changes has highlighted an issue that might have been waiting to pop up anyway. Best to get some rest in first instance, get booked in to see someone who can tell you what's wrong and advise you on rehab.
    Need I say more?
    wishing you a speedy recovery,
    Lynne

Do NOT ignore. I did that and was out for 10 months. There's plenty of exercises available but in my case it was extremely tight calves, so try massaging them as well as doing the strengthening exercises
