    Mud removal

Now that Mrs FB has got her new bathroom, I've been told that I'm not allowed in there unless I'm clean?!!.

Does anyone therefore have any good tips for removing mud from legs etc after races?

I recently saw a runner at Tom Tittiman daubing his legs in hair conditioner prior to the race, and I was informed it assisted with mud removal afterwards.

    Thoughts, experience, advice.

Prancing around in a nearby stream or lake after run, ride or race does the job for me... In fact, I tend to dunk my bike in as well if I have been cycling through mud

Forgive me for being a dim, single, halfwit, but isn't that the point of a bathroom????

Go in dirty - come out clean.

A towel. Rub the bulk of the muck off when you finish your run and whack it in the wash with your stinky clobber. Also useful for sitting on in the car if you're particularly soggy/too lazy to change.

I leave that to my cleaners, you want me to ask how they do it? I bet they wonder what I do in my bath though... although the 6 bikes in the house may be a giveaway

Oil yourself up before a run. Mountain bikers do this before races, I've been told, so the mud doesn't stick.

I'm not sure what sort of oil - I suggest chip fat might be more in-keeping with the traditional ethos of fell running. Plus you'd be less likely to be bitten by angry farm dogs, they'll lick you instead. Win win!

If there isn't a stream handy near the end, I find a bucket of water in the garden and a sponge/cloth produces excellent results. Not sure I like the idea of taking tips off cyclists - next you'll be shaving your legs and rubbing garlic in your gonads or whatever it is they do.

Re bike grime in the bath - MucOff Degreaser -the stuff you get in big spray tins - is brilliant for cleaning the bath (and just about anything else).
