    Turnslack - 30th Anniversary

Kev has kindly provided the results from last year's Turnslack fell race, copy here.

This year's event will be the 30th anniversary and Kev would like to get back as many past winners as possible. We will get a photo and do an item for the paper. The race also features in the local clubs fell race Grand Prix (Rochdale, Rossendale, Radcliffe and Middleton), so there should be a good turn out. The results WILL be out shortly after the race this year.

Seaparately I will post the names and clubs of all past winners and if any forumites are in touch with them please let them know that they would be more than welcome at this year's event, either as a spectator or competitor.

Details of this year's event are as follows:

Saturday 21st July, 2:30 p.m. - Turnslack Fell Race (AM), 8m/2000', from Calderbrook Playing Fields, near Rochdale. AM, 30th anniversary of this hard fell race.
Biriani for endurance, pathia for speed.

Can anyone mark up the OS Map with the Turnslack route and e-mail or pm it to me please? I can't work it out.

I have put the rough route and OS Map for download at http://www.johnmayall.btinternet.co....ckfellrace.htm

    Cheers,

Only 47 runners last year on a scorching hot day. I was 41st! I found it difficult as the flags
were never visible from the previous flag and I often ended up on the wrong side of a fence.
Hopefully there will be more runners this year and it will be easier to follow. The last section
through the bracken seemed to go on for ever. This is a race where I said, "Never again!"
However, I might do it as I can't possibly do as badly as last year. Although the results were computed and pinned up on the day it took 10 months for them to appear on-line! Thanks to Brummy John for that.
