No marshall that I saw but, yes, race map did show that the course went left. In the defence of those of us who went wrong, the race map had an old line scribbled out on it which might've added to confusion. Still, it put a smile on the face of my better half when I told her what happened & was nice cammiradarie between those of us who went off route.

Up till this year we used to go round the right bend on the track and left into woods after about 30 metres. The land owner, Ben Rimmington-Wilson, asked me if I could take a different route at the start and finish to avoid the sheep dog trials that had moved location for the first time. As the start of the race had changed I made a decision to make the route easier at the offending bend in the track as the course was different anway. I did put tape out that morning, about 2 hours before race start but will try to do it better next year. The original route was to avoid a line of barbed wire that is not there anymore.

Those of us who went wrong had a good laugh about it - something along the lines of each of us saying 'but I was following you!' I, for one, enjoyed the route (including the bit we went wrong on) which clocked in at same mileage by my watch. Ended up treating it more as a run than a race, which was a nice change. Country show was great & lovely friendly, grassroots feeling at the race - hopefully be back (& on route!) next year
