Good one for families as 40% of course is visible from show field.
Bradfield Breweries to be there this year, some nice local brews.
One of 3 races in the 3in3 series with Thurlstone Chase on Saturday 11th and Trunce on Monday 13th. Momento to all that do all three + name into a draw with a chance of a £50 prize.
Brilliant short race this but not always well attended. This is definitely the closest race to my house with the Broomhead Trig just under 2 miles away.

A killer finish up the field to be cheered in though.

Theres a £25.00 prize for breaking the long-standing course records - M 20.50 (1986) F 22.40 (19.85) - apparently the field has been cut so we can finish in the usual place up by the goal posts

Plus - some of the prizes this year include Woodhead MR Rescue Ale Oh - and the 3 in 3 mementoes are dead good this year!!
Yes I can confirm the Ale will be there.

A record turnout for the Broomhead Chase (71 biggest field previously). Thanks to every body that turned out, runners and helpers alike and thanks to someone for makeing the weather behave on the day for the show.
Bradfield Brewery beer tent was well frequented, particularly after the race.

    Broomhead Chase 2010

Sunday 11th July 2010 - Lucky for some the 13th running of the Broomhead Chase at 2:30 pm from the centre of the Deepcar Brass Band Broomhead show field grid ref SK 244 962. 3.5 miles with 800 feet of ascent in a beautiful part of the world around the Ewden Valley. The show is a good day out for the family and around 40% of the race route is visible from the show field. All in all A GRAND DAY OUT.

Andy or anyone else who does such things, you might want to get the time changed on the Dark Peak website.... it's down as 11am rather than 2.30 and I was looking forward to running it until Keith Holmes told me the actual time this evening, and I'll be entertaining the inlaws.

but Andy can you confirm as the time is also in the FRA calendar and you may get a few turning up early.

    Re: Broomhead Chase 2010

    Ian.

Yesterday evening, at the 'Trunce', as we were waiting for the 'off', Andy reminded everybody about the race & stated that it was a 14:00 start
    (not the 11:00 stated elsewhere)

I'm tempted to have a trip down, as I'm on annual-leave till the 24th, unless I go to the race at the Cullingworth Gala (then I could go for a Curry in Bradford afterwards.....)

Still not entirely clear if this is a 2pm or a 2.30pm start, Andy ... please confirm as there are still two possibilities on the DP website and the FRA online calendar is saying 2pm ... help!
