Worsthorne Moor 5th August 2012; Junior Races, new race distances


Sunday 5th August; we will have junior races for u8 to u16, all
starting immediately after the senior race at 11.00.

Registration is from 9:00 at the Crooked Billet in Worsthorne.

Full course details and race map will be available from the Clayton Harriers website in the next couple of days.

We will need significantly more marshalls to help with the junior
races this year; can we ask any members/spectators who are not
competing in the senior race to please come along and help ensure
that these new junior races are a success.

You should all be finished in time to cheer the seniors in!

Hi, yes all are setting off on the same start time but in different directions so we'll physically separate the groups slightly and the start briefing will include something to check that they know where they're going! The younger group will have a hare to follow for their first lap (probably yours truly) and the older runners that head up the Gorple Road will have a sweeper.

Btw; if anyone downloaded the race map yesterday then there was a typo on it; u10 were down to start in Field 2! It's being corrected so apologies for that.

Thanks also to the Witt family for letting us use their fields and to everyone else who I've inevitably forgotten because of my appalling memory!


There's one small error that I know of; Max Cudworth actually ran in the u10 race so he's not really the first u12 (he was entered in the wrong category at registration and it had to be altered at the start line).

Assuming everything else is correct the first u12 will actually be Josh Whitehead.

If there are any other errors then please let me know. We'd appreciate any feedback about this race; it's the first time we've had u12-u16 courses so any comments will be useful.

We had a few runners nearly miss the start because they were up in the second field. I don't know whether that's just because they were checking out the course or because the initial race map error (see earlier post) led them to think that they were starting in that field. If it's the latter then please accept my apologies for that.

Thanks for the results.....good to get them out quickly and Jim has updated the inter club fell Grand Prix tables. Only one race left to go in the series at Lantern Pike. I thought all went well with your junior races Andy, once again many thanks.
