    pulled muscle

I have pulled a muscle in my backside. Will it get better if I run through it? Or should I rest? Hurts more when I walk than run

    Re: pulled muscle

Are you sure its just a pulled muscle ? I carried on training and racing through what i thought was a strained muscle in my glutes as it hurt more to walk than run, howver it turned out to be a myfascial pyroformis which has need a bit of physio, stretching and massage to overcome properly.
    Good going down !!

Take it to an NHS physio, sounds like maybe a Piriformis strain, they sorted mine out ok.

    Re: pulled muscle

Sounds like it could be piriformi problem; I did my right one years ago, it is now OK but despite lots of stretching I still lack flexibility on that side. I pulled my left one racing 14 year olds in the 100 meters sprint when our club had a seniors v juniors fun day, (I did beat them just):w00t: but nearly a year later it is still niggling despite physio, resting, stretching, ect.

Get it looked at, not an easy one to treat.

    Best of luck

Get some professional advice from a physio. However I find that piriformis syndrome is made worse by driving and nota problem when actually running.

Had a painful drive home tonight in heavy traffic.
