I did Guisboro' Woods too. Was also disappointed at the route change as its been a few years since I last did it. Had a bad run tbh. Still suffering from a bad spell of 'the cold', plus I'm very short of race speed. I need half a dozen good races to get that back and its not going to happen anytime soon. I think I enjoyed it though! Nearly jacked it on second lap, stopped, had a think then carried on!! Its been dried out a lot from when I first (and possibly last!?) did it...the path out of the quarry used to be a guagmire!! Keep Trogging!!

Hi Ian, my favourite bit is the fast decent through the woods, which is the bit they changed and left out this year. The only good point for me this year was that I was first in my age group from our Club so become the 'new' record holder.

Day 114: 45 mins steady. Heel hurting late on.

Day 115: 20 min easy on grass, heel not too good.

    Day 116: 20 mins easy.

Well I achieved the target of getting to the end of the year, and with the exception of my sore heel, in one piece. It wasn't too bad today, I had planned to race tomorrow but as Capt Cooks has some fast downhill road in the route which caused the problem in the first place I am going to give it a miss.

I have actually run on 106 of the 116 days, covered almost 500 miles and raced 5 times.

The question is where do I go from here: 3 months easy and steady running has got me to a stage where I can comfortably finish my local races and in a reasonable position. I could just enjoy the running and carry on doing more of the same. On the other hand I could train a bit 'smarter' and harder and hope to get nearer the front end although that obviously increases the risk of injury.

Day 117: 30 mins steady. Felt quite good, only the hint of a twinge from the heel.

Shame you missed today, good turnout on a chill though sunny day. Just pulling together the club champs - Clay Bank East, High Cup Nick, Glaisdale Rigg, G'Boro Moors, Carlton Challenge likely to be the early ones, probably a 5/12.

    Might see you at CBEast.

    Hi Tuff,

In reality the heel would not have survived the fast down hills, should be fine for Clay Bank though. I would hope to be at the four local races you mention above.

Day 118: 45 min hill run. First hill run of the year in constant rain and ankle deep mud, the term character building springs to mind.

    Day 119: 20 mins easy.

Day 118, must of been after the 1st Jan as the sun shone most places.

Including the Commondale Beacon as the Nov event, its a tweaked version of the Beacon race, it was a cracking course when we started at Danby for one year in early 2012, though parking fees apply so Dave has changed the start to Commondale.
    Will see you at CBE

118 was Wednesday morning, by the afternoon the sun was out - typical.

I used to enjoy the old Beacon race starting next to the pub. I see you shaved a few seconds of last years time on New Years Day...

I obviously need to up my training

I glanced to the top 20 of Captain Cooks, three M45's and a couple of M50's, plenty of work to do!
