Really, the magazine too? Where? I've only ever seen the calendar.

When I first discovered the FRA I did wonder what the point in joining was - for similar reasons, there are no financial benefits. After a while though it did occur to me that if we all took that attitude there wouldn't be an FRA, not fell running in the way we currently know it. If I want it to continue it seems reasonable I should chip in (especially when it's such a modest amount) even if I don't have to and others decide not to. If non-members have free access to the calendar, enter races for the same fee, etc. be happy you're part of a generous, open bunch of people.

Well I think you will see that FRA membership for £12 with free hard copy of calendar and 3 mags per year is good value when compered to the EA membership that gives a membership card and the same discount at sweatshop that you would get for being a member of the local athletics club.

Here goes - a staggered fee with headline rate of £20 p.a

Interesting to see if my "sources" are accurate

(and also what will happen with the FRA dispensation)

    1. The full Calendar is not on line. Some RO have requested that their event is only listed in the printed Calendar.

    2. The FRA will NOT be making all copies of The Fellrunner available on line. The current project will only make copies up to October 2006 available and there will always be a time lag to protect the intellectual property of contributors.

TBH though, I'd say 90% of races need/want more runners... fra or not...

Also the welsh and the scots have publically visible calendars so it would just make the english look paranoid and selfish..

    Good stuff.

I will be running on the fells for as long as I am able. I will therefore be a member of the FRA for as long as I am able.

£12 p.a. isn't much to pay when you compare it to just about any other annual subscription you can think of. All that access to the open fells, all the unseen organisation and administration that goes on behind the scenes, as well as the magazine (and I don't recycle mine I keep them for reference) - come on you've got to pay your dues it's only right!

I'm one of the tightest, most cynical people I know, and even I feel honoured to be a member of the FRA.
