    Re: Dropping a few pounds

Well, in trying to get back on the "running bandwagon" again, and deciding to shed a few pounds in the process, I have tried to eat my main meals during the day (so not to eat after a run at night) and cut out any c**p.

I also top up with a protein drink before bed on heavier running days. Apparently, according to some nutritionists, the body uses more calories to digest protein than carb so it's a good thing to drink at night.

I've heard a lot about pulses and nuts.

They seem very expensive, Im finding my spuds, tuna and beans lunches very cheap and filling.

I just need to change the flavour of sauce I put on them every now and again.

Bland I know, but did'nt feet in the clouds mention a fell runner who just lived off beans on toast?

    Hmmm Jamie,

I eat nut seeds and all that jazz with a few gobi berries in me yoghurt for brekkie!

However made a FATAL mistake of watching size 12 to 0 last night on the tele and all the calorie counting stuff brain washes a girl! However i think any quest for zero i embarked on would be fruitless unless the calorie counting guides are re written

Bit disturbed about people talking about NOT eating after training. Surely this is when the body needs fuel the most? I NEVER go to bed hungry on the basis that the body can't recover properly unless it has a supply of nutrients to go at. I think that recovery is compromised unless you stick up after training and injury and/or dropoff in performance are the inevitable result.
If you train hard and eat when you're hungry you should be able to get away with eating almost anything. If you aren't training as hard and still eat the same then a bit of self control is needed!

    Self control is my downfall,

I am trying to get my proteins in after training and a good few carbs.

What Im trying to do is eat a little less at night than I used to really

I used to have massive tea's at around 9pm, whereas now Ill just fill up on Tuna.

Im eating well during the day also
