and as a footnote, if anyone wants to race around a true Championship course on Saturday, the Red Rose comes to Witton Park and guests are able to run - I think £4 entry fee on the day.
Registration will be in the Pavillion.
    Full details at http://www.redrosecrosscountry.co.uk/fixtures.htm
including course map and race times.

You might even get to meet Danbert if he's hard enough to face The Saucer :w00t:

It depends whether you mean old Lancashire before it was sabotaged

Most of us around East Lancs affiliate to 2 leagues from Red Rose, Manchester, SE Lancs and Mid Lancs.

Ah! Right! I used to do Mid Lancs with CFR but for some reason the club withdrew. Much to my irritation. I've now just realised where Witton Park is and now know I've ran there!!! You're right btw, it is a great course!!

I think CFR, like Keswick and Ellenborough found the long trek a bit much especially when for a few years the venues at Fitz Park, Kendal, Lancs Uni and Barrow were unavailable.
So all their trips seemed to be beyond Preston.

I personally think it's a shame and I particularly liked the Fitz Park race and this year we have Kendal and Lancs back in the calendar, so maybe you can come and have a race as a guest.

I wouldn't mind doing more cross country through the season, but I'm working this weekend, as I do 50% of them. Its the problem I have with a lot of stuff...racing, BG assists, seeing mates, etc, etc. The good thing tho' is I get some quiet thro' the week sometimes! I've even seen Scafell Pike with nobody else there!!

Will be doing this tomorrow. First cross country race since school days!!!Are spikes really necessary? I don't own any and won't be anywhere near the front. Can I get away with Inov Flyrocs or Mizuno Wave Ascends?

Studs will suffice Kennedr. If you buy spikes (..or borrow them, or whatever!) you need to do a few light runs in them first as you can knacker your achilles etc if you go straight from normal road shoes to spikes. If I remeber right it can be a bit muddy tho' .I'm sure WP will be able to advise you on the terrain better than I.

I'll be in Inov-8 but the well studded ones, not traily ones.

Pete Blands are there with the van.
