A wonderful guy and a truly incredible runner. Was just going to lurk here until I saw a post about Daz. Rest in Peace mate - one day I'll do your race in Buttermere!
Having laughed with Daz at the Scafell race (which Wharf has some brilliant photos) we had discussed the Lingmell ascent compared to Kirkfell ascent.
The Wasdale Show race was on his radar and the fact he had never done a Bofra race.
Gone but never forgotten.
Daz’s day. Thought about him while running across the very muddy fields, with the dogs. Just like he often did.
Thought of others missed too.
Was it really 7 years ago? Seems like yesterday. Here's to daz and all the other forum regulars who have gone on to the next place.
Seven years? I was had not joined Pennine long before we lost him. In GeoffB's weekly club summary emails, he was starting to run out of complimentary words to describe Daz's latest achievments. I was thinking this guy is a God. I do very few races and becasuse he lived so far from Hayfield I never met him on a Thursday training run, with the result that I never actually spoke to him. One of my great regrets in life as the reaction to his loss showed how much effect he had on people around him.
I was marshalling at the Pile of Stones checkpoint on Sunday, as I was 7 years ago. It's always a difficult weekend for Pennine, but none more so than for Stevie, who was running with Daz at the time.

That must be one of the best photos you’ve taken Wharfee. I remember thinking so at the time and actually commented to daz.
Funny how it was just before....
Thanks Wharfeego. Heart tugging reminder
