Thanks to everyone for their congrats! Well done to the other two groups i saw, both of which got round too

It really was a round of two halves - i.e. the first half was done in perfect conditions and the second half was very foul. I decided to go out on a 22 hours schedule for legs one and two and hang on. I knew at Green Gable (with the worst ground behind you) that it was there for the taking and eased down after that. Virtually walked the road section. Got round in 23.28!

Major thanks to all that helped, including my magnificent support team from Tattenhall Runners (and assorted others, including Notonyourhelly for leg 2 and Keswick Simon for a fast leg one). Our club do not have a 'BGR machine' like many, but you wouldn't have thought that was the case - brilliant.

Thanks for the PMs too, i'll respond when i;ve had a little sleep.

    Feeling very happy now

Well done ST and to anyone else who succeeded this weekend. Not the best conditions so full marks for hanging in there.

Meant to also say that there have been thirty successes so far this year on the BGR. Not sure how this compares with other years but given that we are only halfway through the accepted season, it could be a busy year. Then again, it may be that most of those wanting to do it this year have already done so.

Well done to all. Sadly, Colin who was the guy going for the double, didn't make it. I was one of this pacers from Honister to Wasdale and he was going strongly but the weather kicked in from then on and he got to Keswick within 24 hours then back to Threlkeld but the weather had taken it out of him by then and I think he struggled on that leg. Don't think he has given up on the idea though - watch this space!

Ahh, so you're Swiss Toni. I saw you off on Friday at 6.55pm, and shouted abuse at you as you ran past my house in Portinscale. Well, not really abuse, I just told you you'd ****ing pissed it (or words to that effect!). Which indeed you had (you had time to crawl from there). Nice bevvy of girls with you!

    Well done.

The lad did well, it was awful in Borrowdale Saturday. He even managed to stay almost concious for much of the evening in the George. He had amazing support from Macc Harriers (was it 13 on the final leg!).
