Thanks for the tips, Sam. I'm not quick at the best of times on the fells anyway so I've no time aim to be honest. Will just be using it to gain some experience of the more difficult races & as a qualifier for next years Three Peaks too...fingers crossed
Thanks for the advice Sam... I'm pretty familiar with the route from my walking days, but yes there's always the temptation for me to speed off at the start... I do like to make a quick start and get out of any traffic, but hopefully won't overdo it...! Hoping for a clear day so I can just concentrate on running hard..

Great race and organisation today, really enjoyed it...
Felt pretty rough and sick all the way up to Ill Bell, but by the time I got to High Street in 86th was feeling fine and running well. Really started to kick on from there and moved up a few places, until the final descent off Kentmere Pike which was an absolute nightmare.... Steep and slippy, and after a couple of big falls I was very relieved to reach the valley, having lost 15-20 places... A strong finish as I picked off a few struggling with cramp on the lane, got me home in 2hrs 4mins and 96th place...
Seem to have the grassy descents pretty worked out, but really struggled on the rocks...
I need to bear in mind though that today was only my 4th race... With more fitness and experience next year I hope to be back again and aiming to be well under 2 hours...
