sorry ashstroller, I bagged the 3rd place!
Fab race, cheers Jon!
I was staying in the area over Crimbo so, like you do, I had run from Scarborough to Whitby every other day (24th, 26th, 28th and 30th). It was getting increasingly muddy on the cliff path sections. So when it proper p1ssed down on 31st am-early aft I was expecting I was expecting a mudbath but given it had had nearly 24hrs to drain, and a fair wind on it, the mud actually wasnt that bad as it might have been. Better than on the 30th. So yes we got very lucky with the weather. I was over the moon to get 3rd in this years bigger field of 104 starters, tho I bagged First! place last year out of 61 starters.
I had mountain biked to the race up the railway line from Burniston in the morning for good effect too LOL. Did anyone else apar tfrom me and Neil R do the excellent Scarborough Rock LDWA 24 miler on 5th Jan too?
Well done Toyota Crown...

It was shorts & t-shirt weather on New Year's Day this year, & a grand day out. A trophy for me too! I've done a short write-up - on runfurther.com. Good to see so many faces I knew too.

We're having a run out tomorrow. Done it a couple of times before but both were on the "old course"
It was proper tough 'un wasn't it? You really needed fell shoes to tackle that course, but they would have been horrible on that hard-packed cinder track .... I got fed up of sliding around in the mud with no traction. Well done to all that turned out for this.

I didn't mind the mud as much as that horrible cinder
