    Vegan Welsh 3000s

OK, I'm entered and putting together my training plan :w00t: !

Who else is in ? Who did it last year and d'you have any lasting memories to share ?

I've done the W3K route as a walk starting from PYP and over Crib Goch first, whereas the race route starts south of Snowdon and drops off into Llanberis Pass from Bwlch Goch - any tips on this descent ?

    Very excited...
Hills - good for the soul...

I don't wish to drag this thread off-topic but I'm quite interested by the need to be vegan for the race. Do energy gels have animal-derived things in them? Will there be a kit-check to check the non-dairy credentials of people's flapjacks?

Didn't someone get disqualified last year for inadvertently swallowing a fly on the Glyders?

That looks really good. I've wanted to have a go at the 3000s for a few years, & this looks like the perfect event. Right time of year, & a good fit for those of us with no intention of keeping pork pies down during races. The entry form needs a couple of tweaks: I can't see the postcode for paying by post (with Firefox) - it's actually LL26 0EP. And cheques need to be made out to "Vegan 3k". I imagine they'll fix that shortly, as I've just been telling Kirsch about it & got an instant response. Just need to recover from injury first...

In theory I should be all over this. In practice, Crib Goch! Sod that.

Plus it's too close to Trail Marathon Wales which I'm already running.

Kirsch will probably correct me but I think it started as a bit of a run for a vegans only. With added interest I think the scope was broadened to non-vegans prepared to be vegan for a day.

I'd love to do it one day when I can run that far with that much gain and I've grown some balls o'steel.

Send them a message & post the answer - there's nothing on the website about it other than a hint it might involve doing most of the 3000s twice. I'm not doing it though! From a position of total ignorance I'd guess it'll be starting at the same place, running to the last 3000 footer then retracing your steps.
