10 Peaks Brecon Beacons

Hi all

I've just seen this race on the internet. Looks great. http://www.10peaks.com/brecon-beacons/the-route/

The course takes in the 10 highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons, covers a distance of 89 kilometres with nearly 5000 metres of ascent and is all to be completed within a time limit of 24 hours. 7th September 2013. 3 UTMB points too.


Anybody else tempted?
Here are the details of the Peaks that you will encounter:

1. Fan Fawr, 734 metres
2. Fan Llia, 632 metres
3. Fan Brycheiniog, 802 metres
4. Bannau Sir Gaer, 749 metres
5. Fan Gyhirych, 725 metres
6. Fan Nedd, 663 metres
7. Fan Frynych, 629 metres
8. Pen y Fan, 886 metres
9. Cribyn, 795 metres
10. Fan y Big, 719 metres

Looks pretty tough!

I have my eye on this and date in the diary. £20 discount on entry fee (expensive) if you provide a "helper" for feeding checkpoints ............. I haven't told the Missus yet!

Or you could do the trans fan race (invitation only) for free. Same thing apart from cribyn and fanny big.

Just looked at entry fee....HOW much???!!!

Goes very much against the grain to pay that sort of entry fee, but as I haven't entered any race in over 5 years, I reckon I'm in credit!

On the other fora I frequent the moderators will immediately quash/erase any commercial activity including advertising a commercial event.

Yes, I know we had all the Dragons Back hoopla and the inov-8 thing rumbles on. But surely its time to moderate this sort of thing?

That'll be the reason for the poorly disguised subterfuge,
which I just felt was silly if not counter productive
I'm not really bothered if people plug their races - we can all make our own minds up.

Too be honest, I don't particularly care about the odd post by race organisers / Inov-8 sales reps as long as they are up front in their posts about who they are, and don't swamp the forum.
