Yeah, but if you read on, you will see the 10 Peaks trophy is given to the person who raises the most money for charity. So the implication is that at least some of that £80k is raised by the individuals in addition to the race fee.
Charitable connections are used to gloss over all kinds of other activities and agendas. Forgive me for sounding cynical but I think 2 recent events kind of prove the point.
Not saying that this is the case here. But I do think we should discuss the creeping commercialization of the wilderness....otherwise there will be no wilderness left.
