    New big toenail issue

I lost my big toe nail after the Ring O Fire in September. It has now grown back 3/4 of the way but the leading edge is growing into the soft (slightly swollen) tip of my toe. Not at the sides like a classic ingrowing toenail but the whole way across.

It is painful to run on. I'm soaking it daily in warm salted water and tree oil. I have to pad the area with a blister plaster to put shoes on or run, even then it's still painful.

Does anyone have any advice please? My doctor has suggested not running until the nail grows back but that could be another 3-4 months so isn't an option.

    Thanks
    mark

Both of mine lost due to running in MTB shoes with a bike on my back, through deep mud... :/

They went through that phase and it was very awkward and painful, but I just kept soaking them once a day, while I had a bath anyway, and they grew out of it... took about 2 - 3 months for them to stop hurting... When forcing them into my MTB shoes, I taped them up tightly, which seemed to help, at least made them less tender to toe stubbing etc... and less tender touching the shoes...
