Tried the 280's 290' 330's after recommendations.
Gone back to Walsh's in the end as theyr'e the only shoes i can trust on difficult terrain. The grip can't be bettered IMHO.
Any discomfort over distance beats being nearly crippled in an inov8 (still got the heel spur 2 years on)
Search for Walsh's on E bay. Those Italians love them, height of fashion and cool apparently...
My 2p worth....
Surely it can depend on foot shape/width etc? Having relatively broad feet, when I've tried Walsh shoes I've found them to be quite uncomfortable. Best shoe I've found is the Inov8 290 - fits like a slipper and wearable out of the box. Had a dabble trying the 330s but found them to really hurt.
I have the same problem with running & trail shoes - Adidias fit me OK, Nike and others have a narrower cut so I've learnt from experience to shy away from those.
Do I detect a sense of Walsh (reliable, traditional, hardcore) v Inov8 (flash, new, young pretender) I wonder.....?
this has gone too far...
surely shoes are an affectation for a fell runner?
I say "no" to fell shoes. Barefoot for me.
horses for courses, clearly Inov-8 don't suit some people. I've had 290s for a few years now and they are great. When I want more grip I use the Mudclaw 330s which have also been great. Did the Saunders last weekend in them, out for 9.5hrs and 1 very small blister that didn't hamper me.
p.s anyone using the Mudclaw 270s for anything other than racing is gonna wear em out very quickly, use the 330s for training they're much more robust.
